Maryam Saud Al-Ammari

Maryam Alammari is earning her Juris Doctor in May, 2026 at William .S. Richardson School of Law at the University of Hawaii, where she has distinguished herself academically, ranking 8th out of 93 students in her class. She has received CALI Awards for achieving the highest grades in Lawyering Fundamentals and Legal Research, and served as a Teaching Assistant to Professor Alina Boyte in Lawyering Fundamentals and Professor Victoria Szymczak in Legal Research.

Prior to law school, Maryam started her legal career in London, serving as a Judicial Clerk at the Court of Appeal and High Court of England and Wales from 2021 to 2023. In that role, she developed expertise in judicial process, confidential case management, and high-stakes legal correspondence. Her work demanded meticulous attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to perform under the rigorous expectations of the senior judiciary.

In the summer of 2025, Maryam served as an extern to Chief Justice Mark Recktenwald of the Hawaiʻi Supreme Court, where she assisted clerks with drafting memoranda, speeches, and citation review. She also serves as a Staff Writer for the University of Hawaiʻi Law Review and as President of the Hawaiʻi Women Lawyers Student Organization, leading a board of six members in organizing networking events, panels, and professional development programming for women in law.

Before law school, Maryam volunteered at the North Kensington Law Centre in London, supporting an Employment Law Advisor in drafting client legal advice and managing public intake calls. Her commitment to access to justice extends beyond formal legal settings: she co-founded the Maharat Sewing Project in Amman, Jordan — a vocational skills initiative that supported over 200 women and raised £40,000 over six years — and volunteered on Hestia’s Domestic Violence Refuge Referral Line, assisting women fleeing abuse to find safe housing across London.

Maryam brings a rare combination of international legal experience and exceptional academic credentials. She holds an MPhil in Multi-Disciplinary Gender Studies from the University of Cambridge, an undergraduate MA in International Relations from the University of St Andrews, and a Graduate Diploma in Law from the University of Law — earned with Commendation — alongside her current legal studies in Hawaiʻi.
